Breweries urged to source all raw materials locally … as Guinness Ghana launches loyalty programme

The Minister of Business Development, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal has called breweries operating in the country to source all the raw materials for production locally.

Dr Awal made the call at the launch of the Guinness Ghana Breweries Plc ‘Yen Nyin Mbom’ loyalty programme for its distributors across the country.

He said sourcing raw materials locally would boost the country’s agriculture sector and create employment.

Currently, Guinness Ghana Breweries buys 70 per cent of its raw materials for production from local farmers in the country.

Under the one-year programme, Guinness Ghana Breweries Plc will train 500 wholesalers and 1000 retailers of the company on good business practices such as keeping of records and good corporate governance practices.

In addition, distributors who exceeded their sales target would enjoy five per cent more profit on their sales volumes.

Dr Awal who delivered the keynote speech urged the company to support its distributors to expand to other West African countries.

He said the Continental Free Trade Agreement had created a market of 1.2 billion people with a market value of three billion dollars.

The Minister for Business Development commended Guinness Ghana Breweries Plc for the programme to support its partners to improve their profitability.

Dr Awal lauded Guinness Ghana Breweries Plc for its contribution to job creation and tax revenue of the country.

He entreated the company to support government`s initiatives such as the Planting for Food and Jobs.

The Finance Director of the Guinness Ghana Breweries Plc, Teye Mkushi said the company was always looking for ways to excite the customers and partners.

She said Guinness Ghana was working to become the most trusted, respected and the best consumer company in the country and also build better partnership with the distributors.

Teye Mkushi said the ‘Yen Nyin Mbom’ programme was designed to support partners of the company to improve their profitability.

The Commercial Director of the company, Obinna Anyabelechi said the partners would be trained in good business practices and good corporate governance.

The chairman of the Ghana Drinking Bar Operators Association, John Kofi Amuzu commended Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited for the programme to help improve the business of the company`s partners.
