The Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly (ACMA) has procured two vehicles from its Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to boost revenue generation.
The vehicles are a double cabin pick-up and a 15-seater super roof mini bus.
The assembly, which was curved out of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) in February this year, had been without a vehicle, thus making it difficult for the revenue officers to meet their targets.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Mohammed Quaye, presenting the keys of the vehicles to the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr Kofi Boateng-Acheampong said, though the assembly officially started working in April, it had managed to raise enough revenue to purchase the vehicles.
He said plans were far advanced to procure more vehicles for the other departments, especially the works department, to rid the area of illegal structures.
Mr Quaye charged the drivers to jealously guard the vehicles, and also ensure strict maintenance culture to prolong their lifespan.
“You must see the vehicles as your private properties, and take good care of them because you would be held liable for any damage caused to the vehicles,” he warned.
Mr Boateng-Acheampong commended the MCE for the trust and confidence reposed in the staff, and assured of effective supervision to ensure that, the users of the vehicles take good care of them.
The revenue department, he explained, had sacrificed a lot to bring the assembly to its current level, and the vehicles would further boost their morale to work harder.
“The revenue department has gone through a lot, as they walked long distances to collect revenue, and by dint of hard work, we have come this far,” he added.
He urged the residents to regularly pay their taxes to enable the assembly generate enough revenue to fulfill its vision and policies earmarked for the development of the area by the government.
