18 entrepreneurs benefit from NEIP programme

Eighteen entrepreneurs from the Upper West Region have been selected to benefit from the government’s flagship “National Entrepreneur and Innovation Programme (NEIP)”.

They are part of the 12,000 entrepreneurs, nationwide, to receive a month’s entrepreneurship training designed to help them to create their own jobs and employ others to bring down unemployment and accelerate economic growth.

Aside the training, they would also be given financial support ranging between GHȼ10,000.00 and GHȼ100,000.00 from the government to either expand their businesses or establish new ones.

Speaking during the launch of the programme, Dr Hafiz Bin-Salih, the Regional Minister, said the programme was targeted at creating an enabling environment for young entrepreneurs and startups to grow.

He noted that the area was full of business opportunities and wondered why the youth were bent on working in the public sector, which he said, was choked and had “very limited opportunities”.

“I therefore want to appeal to the youth of the region to take advantage of the NEIP programme to develop themselves,” he said.

Alhaji Tahiru Issahaku Moomin, the Wa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), called on the youth to avail themselves for the initiative, telling them that, the government was eager to give strong support to the private sector which served as the engine of growth of the economy. GNA
