This is how some pupils in Ziope in the Agortime-Ziope District of the Volta Region, commute to school.

The fast expanding farming town is along the Ho-Denu road, well noted for vehicles speeding mostly to and from Togo.

The tricycles which are not meant for passengers are also always overloaded with the children.

The irony is that the children see it as great fun riding in the buckets of the motor.

Worse still, the road features large and deep pot holes which compel motorists to veer from one lane to the other, adding to the hazards.

Meanwhile, the operators of the machines which are meant for the farm, are making huge and illegal profits by risking the lives of the children.

The trend is also on the rise at Ave-Dakpa in the Akatsi North District, which is also along the same road.

The Ghanaian Times visited the two towns last Friday, and saw how the farm machines loaded with children, dominate the road in gross defiance of health and safety precautions.
