The Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS) has commended Zenith Bank and GCB Bank for winning the cashless promotion bank of the year and e-zwich bank of the year respectively.
Zenith Bank is leading other banks in the promotion of the cashless agenda while GCB Bank is leading the e-zwich drive.
The two banks were awarded over the weekend at the 15th Ghana Banking Awards.
Speaking in an interview, the Chief Executive of GhIPSS, Mr. Archie Hesse noted that the banks which won in the two categories have been playing lead roles in the promotion of the various electronic payment products and services.
He expressed gratitude to all banks and urged them to do more.
He said the business development potential of the electronic payment products are enormous and encouraged banks to tailor these products to suit their business offerings and the needs of the customers.
The cashless promotion and e-zwich active bank of the year awards were supported by GhIPSS as part of efforts to encourage banks to drive the electronic payment agenda.
Ecobank and Stanbic Bank were first and second runners up for the cashless promotion category while UT Bank and Ecobank were first and second runners up for the e-zwich active bank category.
