The ‘Youth for Addison’ soccer tournament begun on Tuesday at the Mandela Park, Osu in Accra with 12 teams in attendance.

It is organized by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) aspiring Member of Parliament (MP) for the Korley Klottey Constituency, Philip Addison and will end in October with winners to be presented with attractive prizes.

In all, 12 teams drawn from the constituency would participate in the five-month competition. They include, Mandela, Anorhor, Osekan, Police Barracks, Ashinte and Tsono Tsatsu.

The rest are Stadium Boys, Lions, Arts Center, State House, Soccer Boys and Alaba.

Ahead of the event, Mr. Addison donated football kits and unspecified amount of money to all the teams to aid their preparation and participation in the competition.

According to the Accra based legal practitioner, the tournament is aimed at engaging the youth in the constituency, considering the unemployment rate in the country.

“In the absence of any job, lets engage them is recreational activities to keep them away from engaging in crime while we hope some can be scouted to realize their hidden talent”, he stated.
