Young entrepreneurs attend business fair

About 100 young entrepreneurs in the Northern Region have attended a business and exhibition fair in Tamale to network and exchange ideas for shared benefits and progress of their ventures.

The event also served as a platform for the young entrepreneurs to engage state actors and policy makers on challenges they encountered as they worked to improve their business.

Products showcased at the fair included smocks, bead ornaments and sandals.

The event was organised by NORSAAC, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), with support from EMpower, an organisation based in the United States of America, as part of efforts to economically empower the youth in society.

The youth entrepreneurs appealed to government to support them with start-up funds to enable them to establish as well as expand their enterprises.

Mr Alhassan Mohammed Awal, Executive Director of NORSAAC, advised young entrepreneurs to always do due diligence on any business venture they intended to undertake to ensure success.

Mr Awal also challenged NGOs to always question the relevance of their interventions before rolling them out to young people to ensure they adequately addressed their concerns.

Other speakers motivated young entrepreneurs to be truthful, competitive and co-operative in their ventures.

The occasion was graced by partners including Youth Empowerment for Life, Equip Hubs, HOP-IN Academy, GRATIS Foundation, Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly and the National Vocational Training Institute.
