Yaa-Naa Mahama II enskins Mion-Lana

Bolin-Lana Abdulai Mahammudu is now Mion-Lana, paramount chief of Mion traditional area in the Northern Region.

He was enskinned during the weekend in Yendi at the Gbewaa palace by Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama II.

The Mion-Lana undertook some traditional rituals amidst drumming and dancing throughout the day.

The installation of Moin-Lana is the second, the Yaa-Naa Mahama has enskinned since he assumed the seat as overlord of the Dagbon kingdom.

The first took place last week when he enskinned Yo-Naa Abdulai Andani who has since moved to his place at Savelugu.

The enskinment of Mion-Lana Mahammudu was the final phase of the Dagbon peace process initiated by the three eminent chiefs’ mediation committee last year.

The new Mion-Lana Mahammudu immediately after his enskinment at the Gbewaa palace moved to his palace at Mion.

Sympathisers and well-wishers thronged to the streets of the Yendi municipality to catch a glimpse of him when he was moving to Mion.

The crowd was seen waving white handkerchiefs to signal their happiness and excitement of the installation of the Mion-Lana.

With security personnel escorting him the Mion-Lana had a hell of time controlling the crowd that made attempts to catch a glimpse of him.

The Mion-Lana is expected to perform certain traditional rituals and customary rites in certain communities on his way to Mion.

The Northern Regional Minister Mr Salifu Sa-eed, was among hundreds of people who witnessed the installation of the Mion-Lana Abdulai Mahammudu.
