XI Wise loses chairman

SEKONDI Eleven Wise S Football Club has announced the death of its Interim Management Chairman, Mr. Joseph Kojo Yankey.

The late Yankey died on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at his residence in Adiembra, Sekondi, at the age of 75 years. He would be buried in August 2016 in Sekondi.

He was survived by a wife, Madam Ellen Eshun and four children. The late Yankey played for Sekondi Eleven Wise Football Club in 1967 and retired in 1972 having joined the Club from Cote d’Ivoire after a brief stint.

Yankey was on record to have scored the fastest goal at the Gyandu Park, when Wise beat Sekondi Hasaacas in a tough league encounter in 1971, scoring  right after kick-off. The goal was scored under 30 seconds.
