Ayawaso Muslim community seeks God’s face for peace, prosperity

The Ayawaso Muslim Community in the Greater Accra Region on New Year day held a special Qur’an recitation invoking God’s blessings of peaceful elections, unity and prosperity for the country.

They also prayed for the repose of the souls of departed ones for Allah to grant them paradise.

The annual event is an initiative of an Is­lamic Scholar Sheikh Mustapha Yajalal who is the Proprietor of the Islamic Training Institute, and Principal Imam of Markaz Al-Mihi Islamic Centre Mosque at Kanda 441, suburb of Accra, meant to foster unity among the community and God’s guidance in their well-being.

The theme for this year’s Annual Qur’an recitation and Maulid (celebration of the birth of Prophet of Islam Muhammed) is “Peaceful co-existence among Ghanaians before, during and after elections.”

It was attended by the various ethnic heads and Imams within the Ayawaso area and friends from the sub-region.

They recited the Holy Quran from cover to cover and prayed for Allah to bestow His blessings of sustainable peace in the country, unity, prosperity and well-being of Ghanaians.

Sheikh Yajalal told the wwwwwwwwwwww that it was his desire to bring together the leadership of the community to a common platform to foster the spirit of unity and understanding, while praying to Allah for his continuous blessings to humankind.

Delivering a sermon to climax the Qur’an recitation, Sheikh Suala Shuaib, an Islamic Scholar urged the Muslim community to be grateful to God and to pray fervently to preserve the peace and stability of the country, adding “in whatever we do, let’s give thanks to Allah for His numerous blessings and continue to worship Him to make our lives better.”

“We beseeched Allah to accept our dua (prayers) forgive us our shortcomings and guide us to the path of righteousness and for our spiritual upliftment.”

Sheikh Shuaib praised Sheikh Yajalal for his foresight in initiating such important religious gathering to evoke God’s blessings for the good of the community and the country.

He referred to numerous conflicts in some parts of the country, across the globe and in the sub-region and prayed to Allah to bring peace in the trouble spots to pave the way for socioeconomic development and wellbeing of the people.

He urged the chiefs and Imams in the Muslim communities to demonstrate good leadership and exemplary life, adding that the Holy prophet preached peace and harmony.
