Woman arrested over Journalist’s death

Confidence Kwadwo BaahA 37-year-old woman has been arrested by the Effiduase Police in the Ashanti Region, in connection with the death of a journalist of Kumasi-based Kessben TV and Radio, Confidence Kwadwo Baah, 32.

The woman, Florence Osei, also known as Afua Birago, was said to be a ‘longtime girlfriend’ of Baah and allegedly spent the night with him on Saturday.

Baah was said to have been found by his aunt unconscious and foaming in the mouth on Sunday morning.

A police source confirmed the arrest of Florence on Sunday and her subsequent release on police enquiry bail to The Ghanaian Times, but they did not give any details as the case was being investigated.

Baah was pronounced dead few minutes after being admitted to the Emergency Unit of the Effiduase Government Hospital on Sunday.His body has been kept in the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.

He was the host of the ‘Breaking News’ segment of the radio station, and was said to have done his show on Saturday afternoon without complaining or showing any sign of ill health.

The aunt was said to have found his body and raised the alarm. Family members rushed him to the Effiduase Government Hospital only for him to be pronounced dead moments later.

The Ghanaian Times gathered that Baah and the girlfriend had been in an eight-year relationship.

The woman allegedly told the police that she slept in the same room with Baah on Saturday, but left at about 4:30 am on Sunday.

She said there was no sexual affair between them, because Baah appeared weak after they had visited some pubs.

Birago told the police that Baah was in the company of his uncle when he picked her up at her home and from there, they visited some pubs.
