Woman, 40, murdered at Dayaaso

A 40-year-old woman was on Wednesday found murdered some 25 metres away from her house at Dayaaso, a suburb of Winneba, in the Effutu Municipality of the Central Region.

Narrating the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Winneba, Chief Superintendent of Police Godfrey Tetteh Adjirakor, the Winneba District Police Commander, said the deceased, Mary Bondze, was a citizen of Winneba and a trader.

According to him, about 7.35am, Mr Kofi T. Micah, Assembly member for the Effutu Donbosco/Sankro area, reported to the police that he received information that someone was found dead at a spot at Dayaaso, a suburb of Winneba.

Chief Sup Adjirakor said when he led a team of policemen to the scene, they found the deceased (Mary Bondze) lying in a pool of blood in a supine position with the upper part of her body covered with leaves.

He said the police also found a mobile phone, handbag and a piece of cloth, all believed to belong to the victim, beside the body.

The Police Commander said the police conducted inspection on the body, and found deep cut from the side of the head to the neck and multiple cuts on both shoulders, but no parts of the body had been taken away.

Chief Sup Adjirakor said the body had since been deposited at the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba for autopsy.

He said the police were working round the clock to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime, and asked the public to volunteer information to assist the police.

When the GNA interviewed the husband of the deceased, he said that the deceased has no known adversaries in the community.-
