Website For Job Seekers Launched

A national job website for job seekers including university graduates has been launched in Accra.

The website, created by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) seeks to provide a platform for the youth to find available jobs in both public and private sectors.

It  will also  offer opportunities  for  youths who are  seeking  for  internships  and apprenticeship  from some institutions, as well as give  employers  the   chance  to  select prospective  employees  for  their outfit.

Launching the website on Wednesday, the sector minister, Mahama Ayariga said his outfit would continue to support   initiative geared towards the youth and encouraged employers to put job vacancies on the platform.

He said the government was committed to issues regarding the youth in all aspects of their lives and all its efforts were targeted at youth development.

The sector minister lauded the contribution of the National Youth Authority (NYA) in creating a common platform for potential employers and employees to meet and interact.

The national coordinator for the  NYA, Mr. Ras Mubarak said an estimated number of  80,000 graduates were  churned out  every year  and  was hopeful the  issue of job search  after  school would  be a thing of the past  with the launch.

He   observed that most of the youth in the country were always looking for job opportunities in the newspapers that drained their pockets but with a tap on their phones they can easily apply for a job.

Mr. Mubarak quickly noted that the website was not to discourage the youth from purchasing newspapers but to make it easier for them to apply and get a job of their choice.

According to him, the  website would  also help  curb the  culture of whom  you  know  which makes it difficult for most of the  youth  to  get  employed.

He observed that before most of the youth get to know of a job opportunity in an institution, the vacancy has already been filled making it difficult for them to get a job.
