Residents within the Tamale Metropolis and its environs have been hit by water shortages in recent times.
The situation has resulted in residents having to roam for long hours in search for water for their daily household activities.
Residents are seen carrying containers and large gallons looking for available water anywhere to fetch for their homes.
According to Nii Nicolas Abbey, Northern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Water Company, the situation was as a result of the breakdown of the water pump at the company’s pumping station at Nyoni.
He assured residents that the company was making frantic efforts for repairs to be done to enable water to be pumped as soon as possible.
Nii Abbey advised the residents to store enough water when the situation is normalised due to the approach of the dry season.
