KOFI ADDA – WATER RESOURCES AND SANITATION

Water shortage has hit parts of Sunyani Municipality in the Brong-Ahafo Region, compelling residents to go in search of water anywhere.

Areas such as Nkwabeng, SNNIT and Abesim near Sunyani in the municipality are without water, and some residents in the affected communities who spoke with The Ghanaian Times, indicated that their taps have not been flowing for some days now.

Mr. Edward Frimpong, a resident of Nkwabeng, said he was contemplating going to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to find out the cause of the problem.

Mr. Osuman Abudullai, a resident of Abesim told The Ghanaian Times that for three days now his area was without water and that they had water yesterday morning for a while, but the taps stopped flowing.

An official at the Complaint Unit of the Brong Ahafo GWCL in Sunyani, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the water shortage to The Ghanaian Times.

The case of water shortage in the Sunyani Municipality was a common feature especially during the dry season.
