The Wa Municipal Assembly has donated assorted teaching and learning materials to Chegli Islamic Junior High School (JHS) in the Upper West Region.

The Assembly gave out 18 dual desk furniture, 200 atlas books and 40 Longman English Dictionaries to the headmaster and staff after visiting the school over the weekend.

The donation follows an appeal made by the assembly member of the area and the staff of the school.

Alhaji Tahiru Issahaku Moomin, the Wa Municipal Chief Executive, who made the donation, urged teachers and community members to ensure that the educational materials were well preserved and used for the intended purpose of improving academic performance.

He said the government had made education a major priority and was working hard to make all Ghanaian children go through basic education, hence the need for the assistance.

Alhaji Moomin said children were the future leaders of the country and ought to be given the needed support such to harness their talents for national development.

He urged the public to desist from policitising issues concerning education and development and focus on leveraging their efforts to engender development.

Naa Issahaku Salia, spokesperson for the Chegli chief, also expressed appreciation to the MCE, the Municipal Assembly and pledged to ensure that the donation is used for its intended purpose.
