Defending league champions, Wa All Stars will take on Ghana Premier League (GPL) debutants, Elmina Sharks at the Malik Jabir Park in Wa today for their postponed GPL opener.
The game which was originally fixed for February 5, this year was rescheduled due to the defending champions’ engagement in the CAF Champions League competition.
Wa All Stars on Sunday played their first game of the season and lost 2-1 to Accra Hearts of Oak and are firmly planted at the bottom of the log without a point with three games in hand.
However, Coach Enos Adepah believes they would make amends today at home to brighten their chances of defending the league title.
“It was unfortunate that we lost the game against Hearts of Oak on Sunday. It was a game we should have won or drawn, but that is behind us for now. We are going to prepare for Elmina Sharks and make sure that we pick all the three points.”
He hopes to welcome back captain of the side Hafiz Adams who missed the last game due to an injury to join forces with the likes of Matthew Kelvin Andoh, Richard Arthur and Seth Amoateng earn their first points.
Sharks on the other hand would seek inspiration from their last away match against Accra Great Olympics where they came back from two goals down to draw even.
The Sharks defeated Tema Youth at the Nduom Stadium on Sunday after losing to league leaders Aduana Stars at the same venue during match day two.
Coach Kwabena Amissah of Elmina Sharks has assured the club’s fans that they would do their possible best to get at least a point against the GPL defending champions.
In Samuel Arthur, Isaac Mensah and Joseph Mensah, he boasts of a strike trio capable of causing havoc on any day.
