ABOUT 600 police personnel took part in a ‘Show of Force’ route march on the streets of Ho on Tuesday, to demonstrate their preparedness to enforce law and order during the Christmas period.
This comes less than a week after the Volta Regional Police Command launched a special exercise, ‘Operation Father Christmas’ with a similar objective.
The two-hour procession, which saw some of the officers and men displaying sophisticated firearms, ended with a parade at the Regional Police Training School, Ho.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) in-charge of the Volta Region, Mr P.Y. Gyinae, charged them to be ruthless in the fight against crime during the festivities.
He urged them to be punctual at their duty posts and be ready to trounce any criminal in sight at anytime, and anywhere.
Mr Gyinae assured the public of the firm stance of the police to protect life and property during the period, “because it is your money which was used to train us”.
In a related development, a new police station was commissioned at Sokode-Bagble in the Ho Municipality, later in the day.
