“The only help we can give the Fulanis is allow them to pass through the region peacefully to their final destination,” she said at a news conference here last Tuesday.
The Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), she said, had gathered information that some Fulanis had already moved into the region with their animals, while a large number of them were also on the way towards the region.
She said the exodus followed their expulsion from various communities in other parts of the country, and noted that the large and sudden presence of cattle herds in some urban centres in region, confirmed the presence of Fulanis.
Worse still, she said the animals were now crossing roads in some urban centres, posing danger not only to vehicular movement but also to humans, “and we will never tolerate that”.
