Volta Region tops in cooking contest

cookingThe National Association of Beauticians and Hairdressers (NABH) climaxed a five-day training course in Accra with a cooking competition.

Sponsored by Onga, the event saw various groups from the 10 regions competing with separate traditional recipes.

Volta Region emerged as winners after acquiring 118 points and walked away with a Master Chef Burner, Onga branded cloth and other souvenirs from sponsors.

Brong Ahafo Region followed with 109 points for the second position and also received cooking set, cloth and products from Onga for their prize while Eastern Region settled for the third position with 107 points and walked away with a rice cooker and products from Onga.

The president of the association, Mrs. Joyce Lamptey, praised the competitors for their effort, saying that, they had moved outside the box to challenge themselves as women by cooking their traditional foods from the regions.

“It was a healthy competition for the women, as they have moved outside their normal duties as beauticians to get into the kitchen to challenge themselves. It is a laudable event,” she said.

She said the day was very successful and expressed gratitude to Onga for the sponsorship and asked for continued support.

The training which has been running for six years is aimed at updating members of the association with the new trends in designs and other developments as far as their work is concerned.
