Vodafone Ghana in partnership with Kwese TV has launched the Kwese Playstore to enable customers of Vodafone to watch Kwese TV live channels for free.

Under the partnership, fixed broadband customers of Vodafone Ghana could buy Kwese digital box and watch more local and international channels at their area of location.

Speaking at the launch in Accra, Head of Fixed Business of Vodafone Ghana, George Abban said the product was to “change the way of viewing television in the country.”

He said the product was to take away the barriers in watching television, stressing “It is time for television to be democratised and to take away antennae and satellite.”

He explained that the service did not run on data and thus did not eat away the data of the fixed broadband customers.

“All that is needed to enjoy the service is for Vodafone fixed broadband customers to purchase their Kwese Digital box and be active,” he said.

In addition to the digital box, he said, customers could download iflix and Netflix applications to enable them to watch Kwese television on their phones.

Mr Abban said the service was to relief customers of poor televisions signals due to bad weather and provides them a new television experience.

Asked about the cost of the digital box, The Head of Fixed Business of Vodafone Ghana said the box cost GH₵450 and a free monthly subscription, after which subscribers would pay GHc165 a month, stressing “our customers are excited about the product.”

For his part, the Head of Retail and Mobile Network Operators of Kwese Television, Teddy Dankyi said his outfit was proud to partner Vodafone Ghana to launch the service.

He said the aim of Kwese Television was to become the preferred platform for content for television consumers in the country and give customers more value for watching Kwese television.

Mr Dankyi entreated customers to purchase the Kwese digital box, which is the next generation box and it’s portable and easy to move around.
