Aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the La Dadekotopon constituency, Mr. Vincent Odotei Sowah has promised to turn the La Salem Park to a huge recreational center with modern sports facilities to serve the community.
Mr. Sowah says the people of La have been deprived of basic social amenities for far too long and the time has come for the people to rise and begin to help build a new community for themselves.
Speaking at the finals of the community football tournament dubbed “Obama Soccer Fiesta”, on Monday at the La Salem Park, the NPP MP aspirant said he, together with his team are in talks with the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, owners the park to see how they can develop the whole area into a recreational center to serve the community.
The center, when built would house a football pitch, volleyball, basketball and tennis courts as well as other sporting facilities.
“I have assured the people of La that when I assume the reigns as MP of La Dadekotopon, this would be one of the many projects I would take up and makes sure it is executed to the latter.”
For him the youth of La have so much talent and potential to be great in their chosen fields and therefore need the basic facilities to be able to build upon their skills.
The sports administrator turned politician said players have been scouted during the tournament to give playing opportunity in and outside the country.
“One player from Town Park XI, William Darko has been drafted into the Hearts of Oak reserve side where he is training with the side pending registration and this is one of the many benefits from the tournament,” he added.
The final game of the tournament between Abafum XI and Town Park XI ended in a stalemate but was postponed to next Monday at the same venue due to poor visibility.
