Vigilantism will be difficult to manage—Nunoo-Mensah

Former National Security Coordinator under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, Brigadier-General (rtd) Joseph Nunoo-Mensah, has warned of serious crisis if the current state of political vigilantism is not curbed.

The crisis, he pointed out may be difficult to manage if steps are not taken to tackle the situation in future, and attributed the escalating situation to lack of jobs for the teeming unemployed youth making it much easier for them to be used by politicians to foment trouble, create vigilante groups as well as engage in lawlessness.

Brig-Gen (rtd) Nunoo-Mensah was chatting in reaction to the shooting incident that occurred at the Kumasi regional headquarters of the NDC saying, ‘’the chaos witnessed at Kumasi and other areas shows that the youth are fed up with the system, it means they do not have jobs to do or a place to lay their heads”.

One person was confirmed dead following a shooting incident at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party office at Amakom in the Ashanti Region, which the Police confirmed and gave the deceased’s name only as Wasiru.

The shooting incident is said to have occurred during a meeting between Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the National Chairman, Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary, Barbara Asamoah, a Deputy General Secretary and the Regional Executive Committee. –rainbowradioonline.com
