Veteran Jockey, H. Brimah (Alan Lad) on Saturday made his debut at the Accra Turf Club at Borteyman to great admiration. The 58 year old champion jockey riding “Lean on Me” owned by Laila Alhassan from the Adabraka stable put up a good show in top the division 3B race to the admiration of punters

Both Jockey and the Argentine bred horse who were making their first appearance in the tracks placed fourth in a keenly contested race which saw the favourite “M K” being beaten to third place for an umpteen time.

The surprise for the day was ‘Sly Mongoose’ owned by Jacob Dinsey who placed second for the first time to surprise punters.

When the horses came under the starter’s order in a six furlong race, punters’ expectation were very high as “Sly Mongoose” shot into the lead with ‘Mr K’ hot on the heels  with ‘General Salute’ who eventually won.

However, as they took the last bend to the home stretch, it became clear that the race was between ‘Mr K’ and ‘Sly Mongoose” but ‘General Salute’ emerged from behind and fired past the two from the rail side of the track to beat both horses at the finishing point to great cheers from punters.

The win stop the bragging right of “Mr K” stable and also established “General Salute” as a top contender in the division.

In other result of the day, ‘Marie Cruz’ won the 4B Division race followed by ‘Yoobibioo’ and ‘Shatter’ at a five furlong distance while the 4A division saw ‘Sea Never Dry’ winning over a distance of five furlong. ‘Bonanza’ and ‘Thunderstorm’ came second and third respectively.

In the maiden division, ‘Ikaida’ won over a distance of six furlong with ‘simple Great’ and ‘Larro’ following respectively.
