Unity wins Miksi skating competition

SKATING 2A breathtaking display of skating by the Unity Skating Club earned them the 2016 Miksi Skating medal at a special competition held at the forecourt of the Ghana International Trade Fair Center on Saturday.

The event attracted nine skating clubs across the country but Unity prevailed with a sterling display that left patrons applaud all afternoon.

They took home a trophy and 11 medals.

Full Force Skating Club placed second with six medals while Ashanti Skaters followed in third position with three medals.

Brands Manager of Miksi, sponsors of the competition, Mrs. Linda Nartey told The Times Sports that the competition was held to develop lesser known sports in the country.

This, she believes, will unearth the talent for the sport, adding that, “I want to assure the skaters that Miksi will continue to push lots of resources into the sport and provide platforms to bring out the best in them.

Mr. Saka Acquaye, Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) who graced the event commended Miksi for the sponsorship and appealed to them to continue to hold more of such events.

Mr. Aquaye congratulated the winners and urged them to train hard so as to represent the country and win more medals for Ghana in skating competitions.
