United ready to break transfer record for Maguire

MANCHESTER UNITED are finally ready to break the transfer record for a defender to land top target Harry Maguire.

Leicester has continually maintained this summer they will not be bullied into selling below their valuation. The Foxes want at least £80m for the England international. That fee would surpass the £75m which Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk in January 2018.United have been reluctant to match that figure, going as far as £70m to date. But following Eric Bailly’s serious knee injury suffered last week, the Red Devils know they need a top-quality centre-half more than ever.According to Sky Sports, United are now willing to pay up to £80m for Maguire.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s No.1 target is keen to move to Old Trafford.Fortunately for United, Maguire is helping to push through a transfer, having told Leicester he wants to go.

With just a week remaining until the Premier League window shuts, a deal needs to be done swiftly.

Leicester still feel, though, they are under little pressure to sell as the 26-year-old still has four years remaining on his contract at the King Power Stadium.

And United would subsequently still need to pay as much as £90m to lure him away from Leicester.

However, Sky Sports add Maguire is now becoming increasingly frustrated with his club’s stance.

Leicester understandably don’t wish to sell, but Maguire feels he is being unfairly priced out of a move to a club which would be a major step up in his career. –Starsports
