INNOVATION Microfinance Limited (IML), Ashaiman Branch, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, has sponsored the ‘United for Peace Walk’ held on July 1.
The event, which was held in collaboration with other institutions, was aimed at promoting peace across the country with Ashaiman as the immediate target.
The peace walk started at the Ashaiman Polyclinic to Mexico Lane through Valco Flat, to Ashaiman traffic light and back to the starting point where participants were engaged in aerobics and other healthy activities.
According to Head of Marketing and Business Development at Innovation Microfinance, Peter Kuntu-Blankson, over 300 people were involved in the event and were escorted by both the Police and Ambulance services to ensure an incident-free event.
He added that participants converged at Ashaiman Low Cost Estate Pentecost Church, where the Assembly Members hosted the sponsors and the general public.
The outfit, he said, believed that the greatest wealth is peace and asked that all to come together to promote peace in Ghana.
“The turnout was very impressive and we hope that more of such events would be held to promote peace through exercise,” he stated.
The event, he said, was very successful and called on the youth to desist from violence and maintain law and order before, during and after the elections.
