UHAS inducts new Vice Chancellor

Prof Gyapong (left) takes over from Prof Binka (right).Professor John Owusu Gyapong has been inducted into office at a colourful ceremony yesterday as the second Vice Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences.

He takes over from Professor Fred Binka, the first Vice Chancellor who ended his tenure of office this year.

Professor Gyapong, a professor of Epidemiology, until his new appointment, was the Pro Vice Chancellor for Research Innovation and Development, University of Ghana.

Inducting him into office, Professor Kofi Anyidoho, UHAS Council Chairman, was optimistic Professor Gyapong would build on the laid foundation to spearhead the effective growth of the university.

He urged all stakeholders to offer him the necessary support, and assured him of the Council’s cooperation to enable him to deliver.

In his response, Prof. Gyapong, who was sworn into office by Justice Mrs. Agnes Mercy Abra Dordzie , an Appeal Court judge, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him assuring that with hard and team work he will be able to build on the successes chalked by his predecessor.
