UEW Campus Is The Worst — Prof Asabre-Ameyaw

ProfProfessor Akwasi Asabre Ameyaw, Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has appealed to the government for special budgetary provision for UEW to help change the outlook of the university.

He said the “university’s campus remains the worst among the public universities” in terms of infrastructure. “Road construction is capital intensive and we require the support of government in putting our roads in good shape,” he said.

Professor Asabre-Ameyaw made the appeal at the university on Saturday during the matriculation of 4,207 regular fresh students to undergo degree and diploma courses.

Prof. Asabre-Ameyaw appealed to the government to put trained graduate teachers in the classrooms to address shortage of teachers.
According to him, there were a large number of professionally trained teachers who remained unemployed even though a large number of classrooms in the countryside were without teachers.

The VC advised the students to take their studies seriously to enable them to successfully complete their program-mes, and urged them to guard against examination malpractices.

Mr C.Y. Akwaa-Mensah, Registrar of the university, administered the Matriculation Oath to the students. GNA
