UCC To Open On Sept. 8

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) is to resume regular academic work on Monday September 8, following the suspension of the five-week long strike action embarked on by university lecturers.

A press statement issued by the Registrar, Mr John Nyan, indicated that fresh and continuing students of UCC were to report for the 2014/2015 academic year on September 8 and 13, respectively.

In August, the UCC announced an indefinite postponement of the reopening of the school due to the strike action by University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).

UTAG has since July this year been on strike in protest against government’s failure to pay their research and book allowances.

The government also recently asked the universities to postpone their reopening for the 2014/2015 academic year due to the outbreak of Ebola in some West African countries.
