Two arrested for robbing cabbie of phone

Two men who reportedly attacked and robbed a taxi driver of his cash and Samsung mobile   phone, have been arrested by the police.

Iddrisu Nuhu and Saeed Sesei, had engaged the services of the victim, Daniel Osei, to convey them in his car from the Kumasi Central Market to the Bekwai Roundabout, and midway through the journey, they robbed him.

They tied him by the neck to his seat with a nylon sponge, and forcibly took his money and phone and fled into a nearby bush.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Commander, told a media briefing that the incident happened on August 3, at about 9.30 p.m. and that it was the shrill cry of the victim that attracted the attention of passers-by who freed him, chased, captured and handed the suspects over to the police.

He said a knife and na ylon sponge was found on the two during a search.

DCOP Boakye said the two would be put before court as soon as investigations were concluded. ­­­—GNA
