Tricky encounters for Kotoko, Hearts

ACCRA Hearts of Oak gave their First Capital Plus Premier League title challenge a positive shot with a win over WAFA at the weekend while Kotoko’s quest to stage another defense got off to a shaky start with a narrow defeat at the Dormaa Park where they were beaten by Aduana Stars.

Today at the various centers, the two title aspirants would be locked up in very tricky encounters when match day two matches are honoured.

The Porcupine Warriors would mark their return from their perennial waterloo Dormaa with another thorny clash with Giants of the West, Sekondi Hasaacas at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Hearts on the other side face a stern test at the Golden City Park where they play as guests of Berekum Chelsea.

For the two sides that are preparing for continental club assignment, today’s encounters, just like upcoming ones would not just be used to prepare them but also start to amass points to avoid the usual hassle for top places in the title run-in.

Having surrendered the first points, Kotoko would be under enormous pressure brought to bear by home fans that appears unconvinced with results from their pre-season games that saw them losing to Ashgold on two occasions.

Historically, the Hasmal lads have always stretched Kotoko irrespective of the venue and Kotoko’s strength at home notwithstanding, could put up another show that should rather bring out the best in the Reds.

For Hearts, the Golden City Park has become one of their favourite grounds in recent times and if Chelsea does not improve, they would suffer heartbreak this afternoon.

In other matches, Aduana would aim to prove their win over Kotoko was no fluke when they travel to face the might of New Edubiase.

Ashgold would be difficult guests for WAFA to handle when the two sides cross swords at the Sogakope just as Kpando Heart of Lions seem unstoppable when they travel south to the capital to face Accra Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium.

At Tarkwa, Medeama welcome Wa All Stars in a cagey duel while Bechem and Inter Allies sort things out at the Bechem Park.

Liberty Professionals obliges the ‘Apostles of Power Soccer’ BA United at the Dansoman Park.
