Top 4 Tourney: Hearts, Lions To Replay…Kotoko Kicked Out By Ashgold

toureAccra Hearts of Oak will lock horns with Kpando Heart of Lions tomorrow at the Accra Sports Stadium to determine which of the two faces AshantiGold in the finals of the 2014 GHALCA Top 4 competition.

The replay was ordered after their clash yesterday was called off due to poor visibility.

The decision was reached by the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) after the second leg game ended one nil in favour of Hearts.

With a 1-0 cushioning from the first leg for Lions, penalty shootouts became imminent.

Both sides were pegged at 4-4 after the initial five kicks but the game was called off by referee Agbovi after visibility became poor.

In a post match press briefing, the vice chairman of GHALCA, Mr. Isaac Koomson said the game would be played on Friday at 3:30 pm and apologized to both clubs and the fans for the inconvenience caused.

Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko star, Ahmed Simba Toure scored the only goal in regulation time with a solo effort.

From Obuasi, Kingsley E. Hope, reported that AshantiGold played their hearts to silence Kumasi Asante Kotoko for the second time, beating them 1-0 in their second leg clash of the tournament.

Kotoko, by the score line, has been booted out of the competition which marked a shift from the previous round robin format after a 0-1 loss to the Miners in the first leg of the competition at the Baba Yara Stadium, on Saturday. The Miners thus won 2-0 on aggregate.

Tijani Joshua fired home the only goal of the game when he intercepted a pass in the 33rdminute near the vital area and beat keeper Felix Anan in post for the Reds.

The porcupine warriors were a sorry side as they could not find their rhythm in the game. The midfield and the flanks did not click, allowing the hosts to dictate the pace.

But Coach Didi Dramani remained unperturbed and said it is normal and ‘’we will need to work hard to correct our mistakes’’.
