A 16-YEAR-OLD Togolese, Paul Amuzu, was last Thursday arrested by a police patrol team at the Ho Metro Mass Transport Station, for allegedly possessing ecstatic drugs, a large number of wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana and a pair of foot silencers.
The silencers are won on the feet, usually by robbers, to cushion the sound of footsteps.
The Volta Regional Police Operations Commander, Chief Superintendent Ebenezer Asare, told The Ghanaian Times that the police intensified patrols in the regional capital during the Easter celebration.
He said that members of the patrol team spotted the teenager at the station that afternoon and became suspicious of how he suddenly turned back and started running away them he saw them.
Chief Sup Asare said that the police caught up with the boy, carried out a search on him and discovered the items, which also included a metal cutter and a knife in the hand-bag he was carrying.
This reporter was at the Volta Regional Police Headquarters and heard the suspect tell the police that he used the illegal drugs to boost his performance as a mason, on the job.
