Thrills at the 4th Indomie Junior Olympics

It was an exciting scene characterised with skills and tenacity as the young athletes tried to outdo each other at the 4th Indomie Junior Olympics held at the El Wak Sports Stadium.

The day’s sports festival is one of the biggest platforms for young athletes in basic schools and second cycle institutions to show off their skills and potentially build themselves into professionals.

About120 schools from the Greater Accra Metropolis participated in events including track and field, volleyball, basketball and football.

Nathaniel Ekow Morrison, the Chief Executive Officer of Global Multimedia Consult (GMC), organisers of the Indomie Junior Olympics said, GMC was dedicated to the promotion and development of sports in the basic and the Senior High Schools in the country in order to unearth talent at a relatively young age.

He said the Indomie Junior Olympics has come to stay as the biggest sports festival for young people.

Brands Manager at De United Foods Industries Limited, producers of Indomie, Shine Akiem Torsoo called for collaboration between GMC and the National Sports Authority (NSA), so that talents identified at the event can be developed into professional sports men and women.

In the football competition, North Darkuman Presby Junior High School (JHS) beat Assurance International School from Ashaiman 4-3 on penalties in a cracking final to win the coveted trophy.

The schools which came top were all awarded trophies in their respective disciplines.
