ome equipment of the Electoral Commission (EC) in the Savelugu-Naton Municipal office of the Northern Region, used for the limited voters registration exercise have been stolen.
The Northern Regional Director of the EC, Mr. Bruce Ayisi, who confirmed this to The Ghanaian Times yesterday, said the equipment were stolen on Sunday night, soon after the end of the registration.
He said the equipment stolen from the office, included two system units, two computer monitors, SPL laptop and one personal laptop of the technician in the office.
Mr. Ayisi said that the criminals had accesses to the office through the window after breaking its louvre blades, adding that the locks to the main doors of entrance of the office were intact.
Mr. Ayisi allayed the fears of all those who registered in the municipality, saying that all the data gathered had been transferred to headquarters of the EC.
“There is no cause for alarm for we have transferred all the data to Accra and all those captured would have their names in the register,” he stated.
Mr. Ayisi said the matter had been reported to the police and they were conducting investigations, into the matter.
