The Head of State Awards Scheme honours NTC

The Head of State Awards (HOSA) Scheme yesterday, presented a plaque of honour to the New Times Corporation (NTC) for supporting their activities.

HOSA Ghana is a member of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation that engages young people in exciting self-developing programmes worldwide.

It provides leisure time activities and a rewarding agenda that fills the gap left by formal tuition and equips young people with life skills.

It also builds their confidence and engages them with their communities to make a difference in their lives and the world at large.

At a brief ceremony to present the plaque to the management of NTC, Executive Director of the awards scheme, Mr Peter Akai Anum expressed gratitude to the corporation for the consistent coverage of HOSA, saying the act contributed immensely to its success.

“We are very grateful for your level of support and this is our way of appreciating your effort for standing by us from the beginning of last year’s edition to the end,” he added.

He stated that empowering young people to give off their best anywhere they found themselves was very important as they positioned themselves to contribute positively to the society.

Throwing more light on the activities of HOSA, Mr Anum indicated that the scheme involved training activities in voluntary community service, vocational skills development, physical recreation and embarking of adventurous journeys among others.

“It’s all about self discovery and planning adequately in case of any future eventuality,” he said.

Developing the skills and competence to tackle life’s challenges and acquiring appropriate values, he stressed was also necessary for human development.

The Human Resource and Administration Manager of NTC, Mr Martin Adu-Owusu on his part thanked HOSA for the recognition and assured of the corporation’s continuous support.

He said “thanks for acknowledging the work we have done for you. Be rest assured that our doors are always opened so do not hesitate to contact us when the need arises.”
