Teye Nyaunu endorses Asiedu Nketia, Adams

SONY DSCIn a rather ironical fashion, a former Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, Michael Teye Nyaunu has endorsed his fierce critic, incumbent general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia describing him as “the best person for the job”.

The endorsement came unmindful of Mr. Nyaunu’s dislike for how Mr. Asiedu Nketia has handled the party and some utterances he made against former President and founder of the governing party, Jerry John Rawlings.

Mr. Nketia who is seeking re-election at the party’s December 20 national delegates’ congress slated for Kumasi in the Ashanti Region is being challenged by Abdul Ishaq Farrakhan.

But Mr. Nyaunu maintained that no other person in the party currently could be a better general secretary than Mr. Nketia, popularly known as ‘General Mosquito.’

Mr. Teye Nyaunu, a bossom friend of the former first family stated: “I don’t see anyone better than him, honestly and I mean so far.

“Except that sometimes the way he talks about the founder and all that, I don’t think it’s a good hallmark of a general secretary of a party but up till now I haven’t seen anyone that has come up better than him”.

Commenting on persons aspiring to positions within the party at the national level, the ‘Political Maradonna’ or MTN as he is affectionately called did not endorse former Minister of Local Government, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, who is seeking for a national vice chairman of the NDC.

According to him, the genesis of the internal problems the party is currently facing was the result of Mr.Ampofo’s actions and inactions.

“Ofosu and the clique are those who destroyed the party in the Eastern Region, he is such a character and any leader must be trustworthy; Ofosu Ampofo is the one that you cannot trust holding any position.

Analysing the national organiser position contest between Kofi Adams and incumbent Yaw Boateng Gyan, the former legislator noted that Mr.Adams is well cut out for the job than the incumbent.

“Adams has got the chance to go around the country, even though the incumbent has also gone around, we didn’t see much of the incumbent in the scheme of affairs. We haven’t seen much of him. I think Kofi Adams is more disposed to the people than the incumbent,” he said.
