In keeping with its vision of positively engaging the youth by spreading tennis to underprivileged children within communities, Tennis in Africa Incorporated, a USA based Non Profit organisation has donated 20 used tennis rackets and 60 used balls to St. Francis Foundation based in Ashiaman, a Suburb of Accra.
The gesture was part of activities to commemorate the first anniversary of the group which was launched a year ago in Accra (July 18, 2015) and was aimed at supporting tennis programmes for the beneficiary.
Founder of the St. Francis Foundation, Mr. Francis Asare-Mainoo and other stakeholders of the organisation welcomed the Tennis in Africa Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Patience Kodua who was accompanied by Mr. Henry Boni from the Kaneshie Lawn Tennis Association, Chantelle Kodua and Ayesha Laminu.
After the presentation, Mr. Francis Asare- Mainoo, and Mr. Razak Ngula, Chairman of the foundation expressed their appreciation to Tennis in Africa Incorporated
Evidently, the foundation provides an engaging community environment where young people have opportunities to participate in various sporting activities under the supervision of dedicated adults.
Mrs. Kodua expressed her excitement at the lively atmosphere and energy exuded by the participants as she entered the facility.
She was glad her organisation’s small donation will be put to good use, and hopes that it will mark the beginning of a long partnership with St. Francis Foundation of Ashiaman.
Tennis in Africa wants to spread tennis far and wide across the metropolis and beyond. Since its inception a year ago, the organisation has over two dozen registered children participating in its free tennis programme, with more than half that number attending coaching regularly each week.
