Tenant killed for separating feuding couple

A tenant who attempted to intervene in a brawl between a couple was killed when the husband opened fire on him, at Mehame, near Goaso in the Asunafo District in the, late hours of Sunday.

Eye witnesses told The Ghanaian Times that the suspect, Kwabena Bator, is said to have subjected his wife to severe beating to the extent that she became unconscious.

They said realising her sorry state, the next door neighbour, Kwaku Ntim, rushed to the aid of the woman and rescued her.

According to the eye witnesses, that did not go down well with the irate Bator, and he dashed for a single barrel gun, turned his anger on Ntim, shot and killed him, on the spot.

The eye witnesses told The Ghanaian Times the incident took place at about 7 p.m. on Sunday, after which Bator attempted to run away but was arrested by the neighbours and handed over to the Goaso police and placed in custody, pending prosecution.

They claimed that Bator had been quarrelling with the wife of late, over alleged infidelity and had been threatening to teach her a bitter lesson.

On the day of the incident, they claimed that when Bator went home, he did not find his wife who came in late.

A misunderstanding, they claimed, ensued between them which saw Bator beating and clubbing her sayings “I will kill you today”.

It was at this juncture that Ntim, who came from outside, rushed to rescue the woman, which angered Bator resulting in his killing.

A police source at Goaso confirmed the arrest of Bator, and said investigations were on going.
