Over 200 persons in Tema and its environs on Wednesday took part in the Afriyie Fitness Club health walk to commemorate this year’s AU Day celebrations.

The event, which lasted two and half hours started at Community 25 and moved through the Kpone Barrier and back to the starting point.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Club, Bernard A. Amankwah, the turnout was impressive and the participants also displayed some great level of commitment to keeping fit.

He expressed the need for people to exercise, saying “regular workout would keep individuals fit to go about their daily activities and also build a healthy nation”.

The aim of the walk was to engage people and provide them with the opportunity to burn calories.

The next event, he said, would be held on July 1 and has called on individuals far and near to come out in their numbers to participate in the fun-filled event.

A female FIFA referee, Mercy Tagoe, urged the youth to continuously engage in healthy activities in order to maintain good health.

She also expressed appreciation to Afriyie Fitness Club for the initiative, adding that, it would go a long way to keep a healthy society.
