It’s official: Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, and Kofi Brako have annexed the Tema West and Central New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary tickets for next year’s parliamentary elections.
Both, business magnates and good friends, won by wide margins against all odds.
Their elections, that gained so much sensationalism within the party and media were however peaceful.
At the Tema West primary, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah polled 502 votes to defeat incumbent and two term Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Irene Naa Torshie Addo, who managed 273 votes.
The Tema Metropolitan Electoral Officer, Watson Tizor Apentsui, who supervised the elections declared Mr. Ahenkorah, the winner.
In his victory speech, Mr. Ahenkorah thanked the delegates for reposing their trust in him.
He urged all the delegates, contestants and the supporters of the party to be industrious to ensure victory in the 2016 general elections.
The defeated candidate, Naa Torshie, also thanked all her supporters and the delegates.
She urged them to focus the battle on the 2016 general elections saying, “the NPP is important.”
At the Tema Central constituency, incumbent Member of Parliament, Kofi Brako, polled 315 against Ramseyer Agyemang Prempeh, who had 95 votes.
Mr. Brako thanked the delegates for retaining him and pledged to retain the seat with a bigger margin in the 2016 general elections.
He thanked Mr. Agyemang for his support.
Mr. Agyemang pledged to work assiduously with Mr. Brako to ensure total victory for the party in 2016.
He also thanked the party executives for providing a level playing field for the contestants.
