Tema Methodist School gets aid from CPC

nana oduroThe Cocoa Processing Company Limited (CPC), producers of chocolate products last Friday, donated assorted teaching materials worth Gh¢30,000 to the Tema Methodist Basic School in Tema-Manhean.

The exercise formed part of activities to mark the 2015 National Chocolate day to show love to the staff and pupils of the school.

The items included seven white boards, four sets of classroom tables and chairs for the kindergarten level, a data projector, 30 boxes of markers, four basketballs, four footballs, two teeterboards (seesaw) for kindergarten, 10 bags of chocolate powder and 10 buckets of chocolate paste.

Nana Oduro Owusu, Managing Director of CPC, said the gesture was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility towards supporting education and the development of children.

Nana Owusu said the donation was planned to coincide with the National Chocolate Day, because of the company’s commitment to promote the consumption of the product due to the high nutritional and health benefits, especially for young people.

Ms. Brakatu Addo, headmistress of the school, thanked the company for the gesture and the assistance over the years, and appealed for support for the building of a modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre and a modern playing ground for the school.

Emmanuel Odzeyem, Ashaiman Circuit Education Supervisor also lauded the assistance of CPC, and advised the teachers and the pupils to effectively utilise the items to improve their output.
