Tema hosp theatre in disrepair

Inside the building with grasses. (1)For the past 10 years, construction work on the main Theatre Block of the Tema General Hospital has been on a standstill with weeds covering the project.

Some of the woods holding the building are all rotten and it nothing drastic is done to get the project ongoing, a lot of things would be damaged.

A staff who spoke to The Ghanaian Times on condition of anonymity said the renovation of the theatre which started “several years ago has been abandoned” for inexplicable reasons.

He said the situation, was greatly affecting work at the hospital, and called for urgent measures to reactivate work on the project.

He, therefore, pleaded with the public and other benevolent institutions to come to their aid to improve health care delivery to patients.

When contacted, the Medical Director of the hospital Dr Kwabena Opoku Adusei, confirmed the stoppage of work on the project.

He said the situation was creating an inconvenience to the hospital but said the authorities were holding discussions with the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) for the way forward.
