‘Teenage Mothers Deserve A Chance At Education’

StudentsMs. Gifty Dansoa Anti, Chief Executive Officer of GDA Consult, says the unfortunate incidence of teenage pregnancy, should not be allowed to end the education of girls.

She said girls who get pregnant while in school should be made to continue their education, after delivery.

Ms. Anti, therefore advised parents whose daughters fall victim to teenage pregnancy, to endeavour to encourage the girls to return to school, after delivery.

Ms. Anti gave the advice at an educational forum at Akyem Awisa in the Birim South district at the weekend.

The forum dubbed, “Young People’s Initiative,” was organised by a group of young ladies at Akyem Awisa under the theme,“Wise up young lady.”

The group, aims among other things, to encourage young school girls to further their education to higher levels, and to guard against social vices that may ruin their future.

Ms. Anti said it was regrettable that the education of many brilliant girls continue to end abruptly due to teenage pregnancies, saying the situation was not the best.

While advising girls to abstain from premarital sex, Ms. Anti urged parents to inspire their daughters, by devoting time and other resources to ensure their effective education and moral upbringing.

Mrs. Paulina Adjei-Maafo, CEO of Queensland International School, encouraged young girls to work hard to achieve their goals.
