Techiman Police grab cop’s killer

The Techiman police in the Brong-Ahafo Region, has arrested one of the prime suspects who shot and killed a Detective Corporal Yaw Lokpao  at the Kalba Police Station in the Sawla District of the Northern Region.

Osman Barri, 30, a Burkina Faso national, was picked up by the police in the room of one of his two wives at Anyimana, a suburb of Techiman yesterday.

Briefing The Ghanaian Times here, Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, said Barri was apprehended upon a tip-off.

He said Barri, who claimed to be a livestock dealer had been on the run after the incident in the Northern Region.

ASP Tawiah said the suspect and his accomplices Mohammed Musah, 32, who went on a robbery spree, shot and killed Detective Corporal Lokpao, who was on his motorbike on March 25 this year, when he was making a phone call.

He said Mohammed Musah was arrested by the Sawla-Kalba District Police Command and upon interrogation mentioned Barri, as his accomplice.

He said Barri has been sent to the Northern Region as the case was being investigated there.
