Former Accra Hearts of Oak striker, Charles Taylor says the current players of his former club lack quality.
Taylor, a member of the club’s 2000 CAF Champions League winning team, is not impressed with the overall performance of the Phobians in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
He said none of the current players can make it in the starting XI the past era during which Hearts conquered every opposition and crowned it with their coronation as Africa champions in 2000 and 2004.
He told Silver FM that “Hearts of Oak doesn’t have quality players. The supporters should blame the management for that. Players who were warming our bench were even better than regular players of Hearts of Oak today.”
“Salaries weren’t so good in those times but we gave our best and thrilled them. What is happening now is very appalling and it is time management put in place measures to remedy the situation.”
Taylor now coaches Vision Explorers Soccer Academy at Pantang in Accra.
