Tamale gears up for historic Indece parade

The Northern Regional Coordinating Council is making frantic efforts to host a successful, exciting and thrilling 6th March Independence Day parade.

The Northern Regional Minister, Mr Salifu Sa-eed in an interview with the Ghanaian Times yesterday indicated that the Local Organising Committee (LOC) was fervently getting ready for a successful Independence Day parade.

“We are working assiduously to ensure smooth and successful event here in Tamale,” he emphasised.

The Northern Region is being given the opportunity to host this year’s Independence Day anniversary.

The 62nd Independence Day parade which is on the theme “Celebrating Peace and Unity is the first ever, Independence Day celebration to be organised outside Accra.

Mr Sa-eed who is the LOC chairman hinted that all the traditional authorities had pledged their support for a successful independence celebration.

He added that civil society organisations in the region were excited about the event and had starting making contribution to the hosting of the Independence Day parade.

Mr Sa-eed said hosting of the Independence Day anniversary celebration here would help woo investors into the region and impressed upon all and sundry to come out in their numbers to participate in the historic event.

He emphasised that it was important for all in the region to suspend every activity on March 6 and support in the celebration of the Independence Day.

The Minister was happy about the level of enthusiasm of the general public toward the Independence Day celebration in the region.

He commended the media practitioners for their contribution so far toward the celebration of the day and entreated them to ensure that the event was successful.

“You the media practitioners have demonstrated you are real partners in nation building, I salute you and urge you to continue with that spirit,” the Minister stated.
