The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr. Albert Abongo, has commended the chiefs and peoples of the Talensi District for maintaining peace and unity towards for accelerated development.
He made this remark after the Talensi District Assembly endorsed the President’s nominee, Mr. Edward Awonore as District Chief Executive (DCE) by an overwhelming 93.5 per cent votes.
Of the 31 members of the Assembly who were present and voted, he obtained 29 votes with two rejections.
Mr. Edward Awonore who’s first four year term ended in July 2016, was re-nominated for the position by President John Mahama, for championing a lot of infrastructural development and the maintenance of peace in the area.
Mr. Albert Abongo extolled the massive developments that had been implemented in the district and urged the people to vote for President John Dramani Mahama to continue the good works.
Reverend Bishop Jacob Ayeebo, Member of Council of State urged the DCE to operate an open door policy.
Mr. Awonore assured that he would work harder to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Mr. Assibi Bugbila, the DCE for Pusiga was also endorsed by the Assembly by a 71 per cent vote when he was also re-nominated by President John Dramani Mahama.
