‘Take A Second Look At Relegation’

A SPORTS analyst, Karl Tuffour has called on the Ghana Football Association and the Premier league board to have a second look at relegating three clubs straight away from the premiership while promoting three others from the Division One to join.

Mr. Tuffuor believes that the idea of relegating three clubs automatically from the premiership is too harsh and has called on the organizers of the league to take a second look at that.

He indicated that the third team from the bottom must be made to engage in a play off with a team from the lower division as it used to be as most of the clubs that come from the division one do not possess the strength to survive the league.

“To ensure we get quality teams to play in our league, we need to revisit our old system of letting the third-placed team from the bottom of the table play the third-placed team from the middle league.

“This is what is prevailing in Germany. I don’t think our league is better than the German Bundesliga. If Germany is doing this, why not Ghana? Sometimes the teams that are promoted are not up to the scratch and are quickly relegated again”, the veteran sports journalist said.

Ebusua Dwarfs, Aduana Stars and Inter Allies are currently languishing in the relegation zone.

He added that the handlers of football in our country must ensure that our league is properly planned to ensure that players would not have to leave their teams to play for any of the national teams to the detriment of their clubs while the league is ongoing.sportscrusader
